Bio

Originally from Paris (France), I received professional training in painting restoration, combining theoretical (art history/chemistry), artistic (drawing/painting) and technical (materials) skills. Since 2001, I have been teaching painting techniques to my students in my own studio. In 2016, we decided to leave Paris to live in Grand Falls and reconnect with the true values of family, community and inspiring nature. I passionately teach my love of painting/drawing in the form of private workshops or in local schools and daycares.

Residency Project

I'd like to propose a mural project. Indeed, a mural is a unifying project that leaves a visual mark on the school that is so precious in the hearts of children. I've participated in three murals at the Mgr. Lang school in Drummond, and the children were so proud to beautify their school. A mural requires a collaboration of ideas, a division of tasks and, above all, a shared commitment. Although the children have different artistic skills, the result is always harmonious and spectacular. To achieve this, I discuss the concept with the teacher. Often, the project is linked to a subject covered in class. She asks her students to do some research and to materialize it in the form of drawings. I then collect these sketches to propose the visual design. Once the design has been approved by the teacher and community worker, I can transfer it to the wall. The children come and paint in small groups, respecting each other's space and work. From week to week, the mural reveals its decorative content and, above all, its positive message (respect, resilience, heritage...). In the school cafeteria, I could propose a humorous scene featuring fruits and vegetables to raise young people's awareness of their diet.
