After graduating from the University of Windsor Dwight won a Fellowship to study in the Netherlands for a year and then went on to The University of Regina for his Masters Degree where he studied Painting and Printmaking.

He took his first teaching position at Red Deer College in Alberta where he taught Painting and Photography. From 1978 until 1983 he taught at Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick and designed a Serigraphy Studio and established the Art Supplies Store.

After leaving Mt. Allison University, he moved to Toronto and became a Programme Designer and Gallery Educator at the Mc Micheal Canadian Art Collection before getting his Bachelor of Education Degree at the University of Toronto.

After getting his education degree he received his Specialist certificate in Visual Arts from York University.

He is now retired from teaching for the Kawartha Pineridge District School Board.
