Marjory Rogers Donaldson, artist and gallery director, passed in her sleep on January 4, 2023, in Fredericton.

She was born Marjory Eileen Rogers in Woodstock, NB, in 1926 and grew up there where her artistic talents were obvious from a young age. Donaldson was a painter and portraitist associated with the University of New Brunswick Art Centre beginning in 1945. She worked as assistant director of the Art Centre under the painter Bruno Bobak and later as its director. The UNB Art Centre had moved to Memorial Hall in the 1960s and under Bobak and Donaldson, the centre presented exhibits featuring Maritime artists as well as classes in drawing and painting. In 1991 she received the Award of Merit Citation from Association of Museums, New Brunswick. Her personal art appeared in many galleries across Atlantic Canada.

Donaldson earned a Fine Arts degree at Mount Allison University and today, the Marjory Donaldson Curatorial Studies Award, is awarded at Mount Allison University annually.
