Small martin raymond 1 Raymond Martin

Raymond Martin has maintained a steady artistic practice for 45 years. Through good times and bad, he paints. His work reveals a deep attachment to nature, which he often juxtaposes with urban environments, presenting these elements in compositions that are at times plausible and at times dreamlike.

Whether his paintings evoke coldness through glaciers and the eternal snow crowning mountain peaks, or the softness of summer blossoms and ripened hayfields, they offer viewers an easy point of connection. Frequently inhabited—whether by people or by trees—they produce a similar effect: a sense of presence.

The relationship between elements shifts according to the proportions the painter assigns them, allowing him to shape his commentary through composition.
