Suspended in Time: Woven Pages and Wooden Letters

by: Karen LeBlanc

In 2023-2024, "Suspended in Time: Woven Pages and Wooden Letters " by Karen LeBlanc was commissioned by the Province of New Brunswick for Hanwell Park Academy as part of the Public Art Policy for New Brunswick.

"Suspended in Time: Woven Pages and Wooden Letters" is a multi-media piece incorporating a woven "sheet of paper", antique wooden letter blocks and coloured pencils. The piece was inspired by moments of growth, learning and break-through and incorporates the words "make your mark".

Karen LeBlanc has been weaving for over 40 years and after working as a Senior Project Manager, she now weaves in her studio full time. Her inspiration comes from her backyard - the Saint John River valley, textures, colours, fibres, shapes and patterns. Karen loves to create wearables such as shawls, scarves, jackets and ponchos. She weaves table runners, overshot throws, and tapestries for walls. She has exhibited locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
