Residency Project
Grades 6, 7 and 8
Students will discover pointillism, a technique developed in Australia in 1934 by Rex Batterbee. Aboriginal culture is closely linked to nature, connecting human beings, plants, animals and the earth. Vividly colored and highly symbolic, it's easy to see a common thread with Aboriginal art here. Students will be invited to draw inspiration from the work of Aboriginals to create, each in their own way, a unique and original painting. Acrylic on canvas will be used.
Time permitting, mini-workshops will also be added, such as the creation of a Halloween decoration from recycled telephone directories and/or an introductory collage project using recycled books.
Teaching Experience
I retired from post-secondary teaching in 2011. Since then, I've been pursuing my passions: teaching and drawing/painting. I offer workshops to young people and adults at my studio in the Maillet Centre and at the Edmundston Arts Centre. I also formed and run the “Femmes en art” group (now in its 5th year), which aims to introduce the public to female artists who have gone “unnoticed” in the history of art. I've also been offering “Génie arts” workshops in the schools of the district since 2016.
