Overview

The New Brunswick Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture invites professional artists to submit proposals to design, create and install public artwork at the new Arc-en-ciel School in Oromocto, NB. The total budget for commissioning public artwork at this site is $50,000. Once works are created and installed, they become part of collection ArtNB (formerly The New Brunswick Art Bank). Preference will be given to New Brunswick professional artists. Please reference the guidelines and application form. The deadline to submit applications to culture@gnb.ca is Friday, March 12.

Eligibility

The call to artists is open to professional artists. An individual artist or a group of artists may propose a project.

A professional artist is defined as an individual who:

  • Has a history of public presentation in a professional context;
  • Practices an art and offers services in exchange for remuneration as a creator; and
  • Has specialized training in the arts (not necessarily in academic institutions) and is recognized as such by their peers.

Ineligible:

  • Submissions from students at any level are not eligible;
  • Artists who are contract employees of NB Francophone South School District are not eligible;
  • Members of the Evaluation Committee, the GNB Steering Committee, and their immediate families are ineligible to apply.

Description

The Province of New Brunswick has constructed a new school at 30 Beaufort Street in Oromocto. The school serves 50 staff and approx. 325 students in grades K to 8 in the Francophone South School District.

Yes, you may contact the program officer responsible for the program to get feedback on your application if you are not successful. Jury comments may also be shared for juried programs.

For applicants who are set up for direct deposit, typically payments will be made within 10 business days of receipt of notification of results.

For those without direct deposit, a cheque will be mailed to grant recipients within 10-25 business days after notification of results.

If your project is no longer taking place, it’s critical that you contact the program officer as soon as possible to notify us. Depending on the situation, we can advise you of next steps. To proceed with withdrawing the project, you will need to send a cheque for the grant amount made payable to “Minister of Finance” no later than March 1. Indicate on the cheque memo or attach a letter for what program the amount is for and mail to:
